Q&A:

  • What are the risks and complications of breast lift?

Though, breast lift is normally a safe procedure, but if it is anything in term of surgery there are always certain risk and complications involved. Possible, but rare, complications after breast lift surgery include bleeding, infection, poor healing, unevenly positioned nipples and permanent loss of feeling in your nipples or breasts. The risk of complications arising can be reduced if you follow the surgeon’s advice closely.

  • How will my scar look?

Breast lift surgery leaves noticeable, permanent scars. However, they will be covered by your bra or bathing suit. The scar is located around the areola, in a vertical line extending downwards from the nipples area along the lower crease of the breast. Scars often remain lumpy and red for months, after which they gradually become less obvious. Sometimes they eventually fade to thin white lines.

  • What temporary side effects can I expect after a breast lift?

After the breast lift, your breasts will be bruised, swollen and feel slightly uncomfortable for 1-2 days. Any post-surgery discomfort can be managed by pain relief medication. You will wear an elastic bandage after right after your surgery. Within a few days this bandage will be replaced with a soft support bra that you have to wear all the time for 3-4 weeks. You can expect some temporary loss of feeling in your nipples and breast skin, caused by the swelling. However, this will disappear as the swelling subsides over the next 6 weeks.
