4.) Surgery process

Using a small incision, a small bore tube or cannula is inserted and used to suction off the fat layer that lies deep beneath the skin. The cannula is alternately pushed and pulled through the layer of fat, suctioning fat cells as they are broken up. A vacuum pump or a large syringe, depending on the doctor's preference provides the suction. In cases where many sites are being treated, the surgeon then moves on to the next area, keeping the incisions in the most inconspicuous areas.

Lipoplasty will be done under general anesthesia.  The duration of lipoplasty depends on the number of areas, the size of the area and the amount of fat to be removed.

5.) After the surgery

After the surgery, you should follow post-operative guidelines as following:-

  • Wrap the treated area with a compression sheet for a few weeks in order to firm up the muscles and to reduce swelling.
  • Swelling will reduce within a month and is expected to disappear within 3-6 months.

6.) Q&A

Is the result permanent?
Lipoplasty provides long-lasting result. However, it will depend on your lifestyle and commitment to healthy diet and exercise.

What is the difference between lipoplasty & tummy tuck?

Abdominal lipoplasty will reduce the thickness of your abdominal fat and sculpt your body. Abdominal lipoplasty is, therefore, preferred if excess fat is your only problem.

Tummy tuck involves removal of excess skin from your abdomen and tightening of your abdominal wall. Therefore, if you also have loose skin, stretch marks or weak abdominal muscles, tummy tuck is the better alternative
